Mercat Brut Cava, Penedes

The Mercat Cava spends a minimum of 18 months aging on its lees and is finished with a very low dosage, allowing the chalky soils on which the old indigenous vines are grown, to shine through on the palate. Macabeo, Xarel.lo & Parellada.

88 points Stephen Tanzer | A blend of macabeo, xarel-lo and parellada. Bright yellow. Musky aromas of pear skin and orange, with subtle herbacity and a touch of toasted grain. Broad and fleshy but dry, with good cut to its orchard fruit and citrus rind flavors. Could use a bit more refinement but displays very nice depth and intensity. Shows an attractive spiciness on the refreshingly bitter finish, with the orange note echoing.
Inspired by Barcelona’s Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria – the quintessentially Catalan market destination where locals (and tourists alike) gather to eat, shop and gossip. Mercat Cava aims to evoke the same spirit of community, liveliness, and tradition. The Cava is made using traditional methods in the cellars of El Xamfra, where Francisco Dominguez hand crafts every bottle with the utmost attention and care.

2020 Ercole Barbera, Monferrato DOC

Many folks know the Barbera grape for its bright acidity, and this wine is no exception to the rule. Far less known is the fact that Monferrato’s most prestigious zones are dedicated to Barbera plantings. (The very opposite holds true in the Langhe, where Nebbiolo reigns supreme.)

Typically planted to southern exposure, these vineyards yield wines of great depth and balance. 100% Barbera fermented in concrete and aged in stainless steel.

Piedmont region of Italy, The Piedmont Guy has championed a select group of passionate winemaking families for nearly a decade. Now we add Ercole, a project aimed at honoring the work of the unsung heroes of Italy — the grape growers themselves. Ercole, whose English translation is Hercules, is only made possible by a generations-old cooperative of local growers in the Monferrato area. Every fall, these men and women cultivate bright and balanced fruit, allowing us to make real wines that are transmitters of time and place.

2021 Mas de Daumas Gassac Rosé Frizant, Languedoc

The result is, quite frankly, something that is so much fun, it’s like a day at an old-fashioned funfair, whizzing down a creaky wooden helter-skelter on a hessian sack, eating candy floss while listening to a brass band, lobbing wildly at the coconut shy and flopping contentedly on the grass in the sunlight to soak up the simple, happy, silly sounds. -Jancis Robinson 2021
95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Mourvedre, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Petit Manseng and Muscat from younger Mas de Daumas Gassac vineyards. Terroir de Gassac Valley. Cool microclimate derived from Gassac River and nearby mountains and sea. White clay and Lutetian limestone. The Cabernet Sauvignon is hand-picked at about 10° alcohol. The free run juice (saignée) is sent to an airtight stainless steel tank where it ferments on its own with nothing added to it -- no dosage, no liquor, no gas, no sugar, no yeast. This single fermentation is referred to as Method Charmat. While similar to Petillant Natural, the difference is that the fermentation does not take place in bottle. Aged in Closed stainless steel tank.

Aromas of apricots, peaches, strawberries and cream. Gentle and creamy on the palate with soft bubbles and a fruity finish. -James Suckling
